GET YOUR ROOF READY FOR WINTER!

Updated: Jan 10, 2021

Winter is officially here! As of today in East Tennessee it seems we have already had more of a winter this year than we have in the last few years. Due to the snowy start, this blog seemed fitting. Winter has already begun and brought quite a few inches of snow, but it's not too late to prepare your home for the rest of what Mother Nature may have to offer in the upcoming months! We have listed a few suggestions we have to ensure that your home is in proper shape to sustain the winter.

REPAIRS REPAIRS and REPAIRS.

We can't stress this enough. The time to put off any roofing repairs that are needed is never. But, there is a time that is the worst to put it off, and that is during winter. The snow and ice build up that this season brings is so harsh on the roof of a home. Any leaks, damages, or missing components such as shingles will surely make winter a tough time for you if ice and snow sit on your roof.

GET YOUR GUTTERS CLEANED!

We have a separate blog about this topic. Gutter maintenance is just as important for your gutters as it is your roof. Clogged gutters during the winter months can lead to ice dams on your roof, making repairs or replacements a necessity. Make sure to clean your gutters as well as your downspouts.

TRIM YOUR TREES!

The weight from snow and ice build up can cause limbs to snap much easier that usual. To prevent any roof punctures, make sure your trees are trimmed to a safe distance away from your home.

CHECK THE ATTIC! MORE THAN ONCE!

It is always important to take an occasional look in your attic to check for any leaks that will eventually make their way down farther in your home. We would advise you to take a look in your attic more frequently whenever there is snow and ice to keep an eye out for any leaks.
